David A. Detrisac, M.D.

David A. Detrisac, M.D.

Dr. Detrisac obtained his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He also received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and his M.S. in Bio-engineering from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Michigan Orthopedic Society, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He was president of the Michigan Orthopedic Society and served for many years on the Legislative Committee. He formerly represented Michigan on the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Board of Councilors and was on State Societies Committee. Dr. Detrisac was Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Ingham Regional Medical Center (now McLaren Greater Lansing) for over a decade. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, Michigan State University. Dr. Detrisac is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery. He has extensive experience in shoulder arthroscopy and total shoulder replacements.

He also has experience in interpreting bone density measurements. Dr. Detrisac began practicing in 1982. He normally performs surgery at McLaren Greater Lansing, Genesis Surgical Center and Michigan Surgical Center.

Dr. Detrisac is married with three children and four grandchildren.

Erich E. Hornbach, M.D.

Dr. Hornbach is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School and the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and Arts. He completed his training at Rush Presbyterian, St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Hornbach completed a Fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the Philadelphia Hand Center affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Hornbach practices general orthopedics with a focus on hand and wrist surgery. Additional interests include acute care of tendon injuries, distal radius fractures and wrist arthroscopy. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery, and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Hornbach is married and a father of two. He enjoys swimming and lifting weights at the MAC, sailing, deer hunting and golfing.

Brian R. McCardel, M.D.

Dr. McCardel was born at St. Lawrence Hospital, and grew up on Lansing’s east side. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan. He did his orthopedic residency training at UNC-Chapel Hill. He has been in private practice in Lansing since 1990. He provides care in general orthopedics, and has extensive experience in arthroscopic surgery, fracture care, and total joint replacement.

Dr. McCardel is a member of the Sparrow Health System Board of Directors. He has been Sparrow Surgery Department Chair for 6 years, Chief of Orthopedics for 18 years, and founding Chairman of the Sparrow Clinically Integrated Network, and medical director of its Quality and Efficiency Program.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is Board-Certified in Orthopedics. He is on the AAOS Health Care Systems Committee, its Vice-Chair for Quality. He is on the AAOS Council on Research and Quality.

He has been on a variety of Technical Expert Panels for CMS (Medicare), the Joint Commission, and US News and World Report.

He has been honored with a Michigan State Medical Society Annual Community Service Award, and was named Sparrow Hospital Physician of the Year in 2017.

He is married with 3 great sons and enjoys snow skiing, sailing, and golfing with his wonderful wife and friends.

Michael P. McDermott, M.D.

Dr. McDermott is a graduate of University of Michigan Medical School. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. undergraduate degrees from Michigan State University. He completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Grand Rapids Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program, Grand Rapids, MI. He is Board Certified with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has authored a number of publications and research papers. Additionally, he is a member of the Michigan Orthopedic Surgery Society and the Orthopedic Trauma Association. Dr. McDermott provides care in general orthopedics and has extensive experience in arthroscopic surgery, fracture care and total joint replacement. Dr. McDermott began practice in 2006.

Dr. McDermott has three children and enjoys golfing, skiing, running and spending time with his children.

Kenneth M. Morrison, M.D.

Dr. Morrison is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Morrison obtained his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. He completed his residency in General and Orthopedic Surgery at the Medical College of Ohio. He is Board Certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has authored a number of publications and research papers. Additionally, he is a member of the Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Morrison provides care in general orthopedics and has extensive experience in arthroscopic surgery, fracture care and total joint replacement. Dr. Morrison began practice in 1989.

Dr. Morrison is married with two children. He enjoys backpacking, cross-country skiing, tennis, and auto mechanics.

Gregory M. Uitvlugt, M.D.

Dr. Uitvlugt earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine.  He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital, Detroit, MI.  He has completed postgraduate studies in arthroscopy and in foot and ankle surgery.  Dr. Uitvlugt is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, and the Michigan Orthopedic Society.  He has an academic appointment for the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. 

Dr. Uitvlugt provides care in general orthopedics, including fracture care and total joint arthroplasty.  He has a special interest in foot and ankle surgery.  He has been part of East Lansing Orthopedic Association since 1987.  Dr. Uitvlugt performs surgery primarily at McLaren Greater Lansing and Genesis Surgical Center.  Dr. Uitvlugt is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is active in the Maintenance of Certification program.

Jeffery M. Uitvlugt, D.O.

Dr. Uitvlugt earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at Garden City Hospital in Garden City, Michigan.

Dr. Uitvlugt provides care in general orthopedics. He has a strong interest in Total Joint Arthroplasty and Community based Orthopedic Trauma. Board eligible through American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Passed written exam in June 2017, scheduled for Oral Exam in the fall of 2017.

He is married with a child on their way. He enjoys Michigan State sports and outdoor activities.
